> About Project TRES...
The goal of Project TRES is to develop a comprehensive and culturally relevant human subjects training program for members of the research team (promotores, interview and outreach workers, investigators) conducting research within the Latino community.

Project TRES is funded through a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant awarded to San Diego State University.

> Background...
In 2000, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) required that investigators and key personnel receive training in basic ethical and responsible human subjects research. >The Curriculum...
The content of the curriculum was developed using input from focus groups composed of investigators, program managers and experienced CHWs/Promotores. The initial information received from these focus groups was used to write the core components of the curriculum. CHWs/Promotores with a wide range of experience provided input on format, language, appropriate terminology and cultural relevance. Project TRES team members also reviewed the materials for content accuracy, writing style, vocabulary, and cultural relevance.
